All About Christmas Trees

At Caras we offer both native trees harvested high in the mountains and cultured trees that are pruned on tree farms to establish that classic Christmas tree look. How do you like your tree, wild or cultured?

Native Trees

Subalpine fir: native to the Rocky Mountains, subalpines thrive in Montana above 5,000 feet. Naturally slender with short branches given exposure to the harsh and snowy environment, these native firs make a statement in a winter Christmas setting. Ample space between branches allow for good viewing through the tree and beautiful contours when lighted. The only downside is limited real estate for decorations!

Lodgepole pine is another stately Montana native. Shapely, with narrow trucks and short needles, lodgepoles bring that pleasant pine scent to your home.

Cultured Trees

Getting that classic Christmas tree look takes a lot of work. Repeated pruning and shearing form dense foliage, strong branches and symmetrical conical shape.

At Caras we offer Noble fir, Douglas fir, Grand Fir and Nordmann fir.

Noble fir: native to the Pacific Northwest, this is a classic holiday tree with stiff bluish-green needles. Appreciated for dense foliage and a natural pyramid-shaped crown.

Nordmann fir: native to the Caucasus mountains of Eurasia, Nordmann have become Christmas favorites given their soft needles which are shiny green from above and have two whites bands on the underside. Nordmann’s have a pyramid shape like nobles but the branches and needles are softer and more flexible than the other firs.

As you can see flocking creates a spectacular look of fresh snow. We specialize in flocking evergreen trees (or any tree) and also offer disposable tree stands and bowls, custom lighting, tree delivery, pickup and disposal.
